Andrej Kibrik

Meet the course creator: Andrej Kibrik

Andrej Kibrik is a Russian linguist, specializing in cognitive linguistics, discourse analysis, and linguistic typology. The son of prominent linguist Alexander Kibrik, he currently serves as the director of the Institute of Linguistics at the Russian Academy of Sciences and is a professor at Moscow State University. Throughout his career, Kibrik has conducted extensive fieldwork on lesser-known languages, including American Indian and Caucasian languages, and has led the effort to create the encyclopedic series Languages of the World. His work has contributed significantly to the understanding of language diversity and how human cognition shapes language.
